Re: German
It's a cool language. It actually seems pretty easy. I don't know it really. I know a little bit. I use the google translator. It proves to be helpful in learning from it too. My friend took German in school, so when he was over he spoke it often. lol. I only know a little without using the google translator.

Re: German
German is a beautiful language. It's also incredibly easy to pick up for native English speakers, because the basic sentence structure is the same and a lot of the words are really similar.
Re: German
Replace W with a V sound. And replace T with a D.

Re: German
I think the sentence structure comes from German, but as I take Latin, I keep noticing alot of words that are root words of 'fancy' English words.

This, definitely. I speak Italian and conversational German, French, Spanish, and, well, as "conversational" as Latin gets, and there are SO MANY words from all of those languages that are recognizable as being the roots of English words. It makes it so much easier learning vocab. ;D

Re: German
^^Is there any language that you would say most of the 'fancy' words of English come from?

Well, there are a huge amount of words which are ~very similar to German words (Haar=Hair, Onkel = Uncle etc. etc.), but I'm not sure you'd term them as fancy. So, German aside, I would probably say, from what I've noticed, that most of the English language's "fancy" words come from Italian and French (and Latin too). There are less Spanish words in the English vocabulary though, which is understandable considering the history of the British Isles.
