Minecraft
So this Swedish nerd designs this java game, puts it on the internet, and it develops what I guess you would call a cult following. You walk around in a randomly-generated 3d block world digging for minerals and avoiding the monsters that either come out at night or live in the caverns. You have to build a shelter, and you also have to build all of your tools.
It's strangely addicting. Very addicting. It's mostly the reason I haven't been on Facebook or here much in the past week or so. It costs I think 10 Euros, or about $13 US, but you can try the 'classic' version of the game for free. It's also a work in progress as the guy keeps developing it. If you're curios (Is it 'curious' or 'curios'?) here's the link to the site: www.minecraft.net

Re: Minecraft
Well you have to dig deep to find the minerals. You should try hardcore mode.

Re: Minecraft
My brother really wants it, but it won't work on macs, and my parents won't let him on their laptops and he's going nowhere near my tablet. He's really mad.

Re: Minecraft
It wouldn't let him. My parents don't want to try too hard anyway because he's 7 and they don't really want him to play it anyway.

Re: Minecraft
Ok, I'll give you the steps to go through when you start a new world.
1. Punch trees. Get at least 32 wood. Make planks out of 8 of them.
2. Build a workbench, 1 pickaxe, 1 shovel, and one door.
3. Find a hill, dig a hole out of the side of it to live in.
4. Build an oven. Stick 2 pieces of wood in the bottom slot. Stick the rest of your wood blocks (not your planks) in the top slot. This will make coal, and you can use it to make torches.
5. Make ladders with all but a few pieces of the wood you have left.
6. Start digging down in your house and laying ladders on the wall. You should most likely run in to coal on your way down, and possibly iron. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FALL INTO LAVA.
7. Once you get pretty low, start digging sideways. This will either get you to a cave or get you to some more minerals.

Re: Minecraft
My brother gave me this advice as well but I still kept getting these messages every 5 minutes before re spawning: "ilikeorangejuice tried to swim in lava." It was pretty discouraging at first. haha.albino squirrel wrote:MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FALL INTO LAVA.

Re: Minecraft
Use the right button on your mouse to get to that building grid. You need to be facing a workbench at when you do this.
